Why “Yellowship”?

What is it about Lessonly that makes it unique? It’s hard to explain, but it’s definitely real. We are focused on doing everything we can so that our team, our customers’ teams, and teams across the world can do better work.

What does that mean, exactly? For starters, we believe doing better work is inseparable from continuous growth.

A while back, some of the Lessonly team were reflecting on times in our careers and lives in which we experienced the most personal growth. A few common threads began to emerge: times we were challenged to think differently than we naturally tended to, moments when we were freed from the distractions of our daily routines, and seasons when we had to push beyond our typical capacity. Collectively, those experiences led to many “aha” moments.

Interestingly, though, we realized that growth which endures longest is influenced by a couple other key ingredients: meaningful interactions and authentic relationships. That special kind of fellowship is what we strive for in daily interactions with our Lessonly teammates as well as with our customers, partners, and community. We’ve by no means perfected it, and probably never will. But we’re committed to doing our darndest.

That’s what inspired the name Yellowship. It’s a fusing of all the ideas that embody Lessonly —right down to our yellow logo—with the idea of community and fellowship. And taken a step further, if we really believe that Lessonly’s culture and approach to doing better work are meaningful and impactful, why confine it to the walls of our office building?

So we made a decision: let’s take that idea of Yellowship—of doing better work—into the world. And what better way to start than to invite our customers, partners, prospects, and friends to an event built in that spirit. So, yes, Yellowship is an event: it’s Lessonly’s inaugural conference. But it’s also an idea and a philosophy that every attendee has a chance to shape and define through their participation and engagement.

If that resonates with you, we hope you can make it. Here’s to doing better work together at Yellowship—and beyond.
