Cue the Confetti: Introducing Lessonly Certifications, Our Biggest Launch of 2020

Sound every a-llama and roll out the confetti cannons because today’s product launch (as the title mentions) is our biggest one of the year over here at Lessonly. 2020 has been a certifiably challenging year, but that didn’t’ stop our fearless Product team from building… drumroll please… Lessonly Certifications!

Certifications is paving the way for a whole different level of learning inside of Lessonly. I can’t wait to watch your teams learn, practice, and perform even better because of the personalization, specialization, and certification tracking software Lessonly provides for both admins and learners. Alright, so enough of me gushing, let’s get to the good stuff. In this blog post, we’ll cover…

  • A little backstory behind Certifications
  • The main 8 things to know about Certifications
  • An example certification
  • Next steps from here

The Backstory

Online employee training and development has never been more important than it is in our still partially remote world. Thus, the need for a top-of-the-line online employee training platform is pressing, and we sought to rise to the occasion. Plain and simple, dozens of customers were asking each other, “How do you keep track of certifications?” The leaders in training we work with kept telling us how they’d love to create certifications for their teammates right inside of Lessonly, just so they could keep learners growing and practicing in the software they’re already using to learn. And that was reason enough for us to build it.

We ran a public beta test of Certifications for a few months beginning in July 2020, and during that time, we hosted focus groups, customer interviews, and kept our eyes and ears open for ideas from our customer base on how we could improve our training management software and the functionality of Certifications. We made updates and changes, and that brings us to today, October 20, 2020, Certifications 0th birthday. 🎉

We’ll talk more about how to get started as we go, but if you’re on the edge of your seat and can’t wait to explore, login to your Lessonly account, head to the Content tab, click the “New Content” button, and select “New Certification” from that dropdown menu. You’ll be guided through what to do from there! If you want to walk through this with someone, allow me to introduce you to Kimberly from our Product team. She loves code, Taco Bell, and of course, Certifications.

Onto a few (actually eight) fast facts about the features and functionality of Certifications.

An Example Certification

For you hands-on learners, we’ve got you covered. We recently put together a certification using Lessonly Certifications called Customer Service Enablement 101. It exists to give customer service leaders more tools in their toolbelt for leading their teams and developing enablement that agents love and customers feel.

But, the good news is, it’s not just for CS leaders. Regardless of what you do, if you want to see Certifications in action and get some practical ideas for your next certification, it’s worth a look. We incorporate videos, flip cards, knowledge checks, a final assessment, text, Zoom interviews with customers, audio snippets—really, there’s a little bit of everything, and it takes <2 hours to complete. (Or you can just click around, that’s just fine, too!) You have our permission to steal any and all ideas you find in there and apply them to your employee training software and strategy.
